Champion Red’s Week 3 Mythic Power Rankings

“This week is going to have some more drastic changes than the last two. I would like to remind everyone that this power ranking is specifically for how the teams looked in Week 2 going into Week 3. It is not where I believe these teams will end at the end of this split. With that being said, let’s jump into this.”
BBZ Champion Red
8th - HBK [-2]
After a strong showing in Week 1, HBK had a pretty lackluster Week 2. My opinion that their first win against SGR was really a fluke, and was ultimately SGR’s game to lose. I do think this team will be ranked higher next week and for the rest of the season; however, for Week 2 they definitely felt like the weakest team due to their captain’s absence. Hopefully whatever reason they were subbed out for is resolved and we can go back to seeing HBK challenge the rest of the league in Week 3.
7th - BABY [+/-]
Team Beep Boop takes 7th place again this week. On Day 1 BABY came out swinging, taking down one of the only two 2-0 teams in the league, HBK. I think they looked outstanding in this match and it made me think, “Ah yes, this is the performance from BABY that I was looking for”. The next day didn’t go so well, losing a game to the only winless team at the time, RLS. I’m looking forward to seeing Fang continue to lead his team forward as they continue to improve.
6th - RLS [+2]
This is the week where RLS gets their time in the spotlight. While HBK holds a win over RLS, they also hold a loss against BABY. With RLS’s victory over team BABY this puts these teams into a rock-paper-scissors scenario. RLS will finally have some momentum going into this next week. Their hard work finally came to fruition with their first win on Saturday. While I do believe that any of the 8th-6th place teams could be swapped around, due to the momentum that RLS is carrying into the week, this team gets to take the lead of the lower section of the rankings.
5th - OOD [+/-]
This is most likely going to be my controversial ranking for the week. While technically OOD now has a victory over ACE, it was due to a forfeit. If these two teams did go head-to-head, I do believe that ACE would come out on top. My stock in OOD did slightly go down when they lost a game with Photograph’s Draven, but I do feel like POG played exceptionally well rather than OOD playing poorly. Going forward, I’d like this team to make use of their carries better. Whether that’s through the draft or the amount of focus on the map. I do believe this team can crack top 4 again. Potentially into the top 3. But we are going to need to see some improvement before that happens.
4th - ACE [-3]
Team A-Click is going to see one of the biggest drops in my rankings so far, going from 1st to 4th. While it was a forfeit that led to their 1-3 start in the first 2 weeks, I think 4th place is still the correct place for ACE right now. Even without their forfeit, ACE is still 1-2, and while I gave them the benefit of the doubt last week, I’m going to want to see improvement going forward. The competition in this year's FoF, for both Heroic and Mythic Leagues, is much more intense. If our reigning champions want to repeat their victory, they are going to need to bring their best every game.
3rd - SGR [+1]
What is there to say about SGR Reborn that hasn’t been said already? While I slept on this team Week 1, then bumped them all the way to 4th last week, this team finally broke into the top 3. After taking down ACE they deserved to be higher in the rankings, but unfortunately their loss to POG kept them from taking the #2 ranking. This team has blown all my expectations out of the water despite their 2-2 record. While I’m not a huge fan of seeing StreetSmurf on supportive mid laners every game, I am loving the way this team plays together. This week will be SGR’s real test for the start of the tournament, taking on the undefeated TUB.
2nd - POG [+/-]
Unfortunately for Poseidon Gaming they seem to have a bit of a “always the bridesmaid but never the bride” situation going on. They lost to team ACE in week 1 keeping them out of the top spot, and now that ACE has finally fallen out of rank 1, TUB has stepped in to take it away from them. Despite their 3-1 record, I do think that POG can contest the undefeated TUB for the #1 spot on Saturday.
1st - TUB [+2]
The Ugly Barnacles are coming into Week 3 as the only undefeated team in the league. While I’m not really a fan of their name or logo, I am a fan of their gameplay. This team has definitely looked the cleanest out of all of the Mythic teams in the first 2 weeks. That being said, TUB faces their hardest week yet taking on SGR on Friday and POG on Saturday. These two games are most likely going to be the highlights of the week, and I look forward to seeing if TUB can continue their dominance on the rift going into Week 4 and beyond.
